Pardon if this is in the wrong forum.

My theater is considering installing a second, silver screen (we have a stage house and can fly a second screen in) for interlock and digital 3D next year.

What has been your experience regarding price and quality? A number of reviews online that have said to stay away from Hurley.

Our matte white screen is 40' x 20', although I'm looking to perhaps go smaller for this second screen, given the light issues.

I ordered a Hurley Silver about a year and a half ago for a Technicolor 3-D install.... only because Hurley could supply it in time and they said it would be perfect. Well, the screen got delayed slightly while Hurley rebuilt some part of their seam joining machine. The screen arrived ok and still in time and all I can say was that the screen was literally flawless... Yea! Surprised us too. Hurley always did have perfect seams in past years but things seemed to go sour there about 4 or 5 years ago and it was like they didn't give a crap. I think giving them a try is ok but get something in writing fomr who ever you purchase it through so you can get it replaced with Harkness, Severtson, etc. if it turns out to be a bad one. FYI: My current favorite is Severtson... and they are fast. Be sure to request 6" O.C. grommits or you will get 8" O.C. grommits... They don't charge any extra for 6" O.C.

We bought 4 Hurley silver screens in November of 2009 for $28,000. When you put light on the screen you could see a square pattern. Hurley told us just use them for a little while and the pattern will disappear. It didn't and they would do nothing. We ordered 4 new replacement Severston screens which were perfect and junked the Hurley's. We have continued using Severston's silver screens and the quality has remained perfect. You definitely want to request the grommets on 6" centers. We have not tried their white screens but will not hesitate to do so.
