Given the disaster this year (2010) getting silver screens, how long before they die? Perhaps this will vary by brand? (Some weren't very good to start with.) Louis

I can say this... Screens coated with water base coatings like Severtson uses will far outlast screens coated with oil base coatings. The oil base coatings will start to yellow in just a few years time on average. Hotter climates accelerate the yellowing... We recently completed hanging 9 Severtsons and all of them were the most perfect and consistant silver coating I've ever seen.

Can't attest to longevity but definitely will add another vote for Severtson looking damn good.

Since we are nearing the 5 year mark since Chicken Little (2005) and 4 years since Monster House (2006) and Nightmare Before Christmas 3D (2006) I'm curious if anyone with screens installed for these releases have observed any yellowing or other discoloration?

So far I have not noticed any discoloration on ours, but I'm going to make a point of asking our Christie tech if there is any noticed difference when he shoots colors on the next PM cycle.
