Why is it not possible for film companies to make their dci files with digital 3D promotional information and leave the film trailers uncontaminated.

Don’t digital theatres screen digital trailers? Is it too hard to add the 3D message to those files?

Why are film theatres forced to advertise a format that is available at a nearby multiplex?

Removing the offending image is not completely satisfactory as the audio still remains. In Australia we have a code of conduct which states that we must screen the trailer.

It does smell a bit like they are blackmailing us into going digital.

Distributors put out whatever advertising will benefit them the most rather than whatever advertising will benefit you the most.

Yes, but we also have 35mm screens so it works for us. I do think they should make two versions though for locations such as yours.

Ron, it's the same reason they won't produce one-sheets without 3D. They know that's where the money is right now and so that's what they are pushing.
