I picked up a couple of Xetrol IV dimmers (total cost was basically a 1.5 hour drive to Cincinnati).

Through some part swapping, I've got one functional unit. I >think< the problem with the other is a bad relay. Anyone know of a source for hard-to-find parts like this?

It's a Guardian Electric 1310 Series, pt# A410-362625-12. Or, is there such a thing as a relay cross-reference somewhere that might point to a matching relay from another manufacturer? Google hasn't revealed much as yet.

This may be a stupid question, but have you tried swapping
the relays to be sure one of them is bad? I got a couple of
Xetrol IV's out of an old theater for about the same price
you did, and I also had one that wasn't working.

At first I too suspected the relay, but in my case it turned
out to be that the 12volt(AC) transformer that supplies power
to the relay coil was bad. I was able to find a workable
replacement at my local Radio Shack.

As for the relays themselves- - I don't know of a cross
cross reference, although one may exist. But the relays
used in the Xetrol are 12Volt AC- either 3PDT or 4PDT
depending on when your unit was made.

I don't think you'd find these at Rat Shack, but this
would be a very easy to find item at any large electronic
supply store. OR- I just did a quick search on E-bay and
came up with over a 100 listings of both types, most of
them new & unused. Check the listings and the pictures
and you may find the one you're looking for. Good Luck!

They conform to the P&B KHAU series like the KHAU17A11-12 or KHU17A12-12. There are other manufacturers of this relay too.

It is a pretty standard base. Most places that stock the relay will have the 12VDC version rather than the 12VAC version so pay attention.
