After doing some searches on this, I still have a question. Will today's DTS 6 or 6D upgrade kit work with any past DTS unit? Even one that has never been upgraded.

Yes. I've never had a kit specify only for units after serial #...

They have always included the boards and firmware needed for the upgrade.

From Computer Spirit in California (1-805-373-5107) - who supplies kits for these older DTS players since DTS has nothing to do with the DTS-6 and the DTS-6D units:

E-208 - 2 tray kit $429.00
E-209 - 3 tray kit $571.31

Drives will be a DVD-Rom drive with the IDE to SCSI bridge card attached to the back end.

Both kits includes the upgrade V.1.46 chip, SCSI controller card and the AQRM card.

They're not called Computer Spirit any more. I don't happen to remember the new name off the top of my head but it is posted on Datasat's Web Site. And they now have ALL DTS player parts available.

We had a DTS-6 repaired by Quality two years ago and have been satisfied with what they did. They did do the DVD upgrade drives, and a new reader.
