CINEMA PROJECTIONIST COURSE
Cinema Projectionist Course, Swindon
26th January 2010

Third in a series for one day training courses, aimed at people wanting to enhance their skills as cinema (film & digital) exhibition projectionists.

The courses will cover film handling, projector design and maintenance, audio systems, and digital cinema systems

Course Outline

THEME OF COURSE: BEST PRACTICE

Timetable
Morning Session

09.30 Registration and Coffee

10.00 Film Handling
Good working practices, proper use of leaders and trailers, mechanical handling of platters and reels, clean working, proper changeovers, etc.

10.45 Projector Performance
Lenses and throws / focus. Correct intermittent motion. General lamphouse maintenance

11.30 Coffee Break

11.45 Digital Audio - Non film
Dolby & DTS, plus other digital systems. Specific audio considerations when using digital sources.

12.30 LUNCH

Afternoon Session

13.30 Xenon Lamps
Safe working practices, lamp alignment and optimisation

14.15 Digital Overview
Where is Digital Cinema? What technologies are winning the DC race and how are they implemented?

15.00 Open Forum
Opportunity to review what has been learned and to discuss issues arising from it.

16:00 Close

I saw this in the latest 'Cinema Technology' (which, incidentally, features our site and PM, John Zold), and thought it looked a bit basic. Best practice is every day practice. Every example they gave was stuff that I already knew (from the start) and used every day...
