Author Topic: Jim Gillespie passed away Dick Prather Master Film Handler Posts: 259 From: Portland, OR, USA Registered: Feb 2002 posted 10-16-2009 01:48 PM                     Jim Gillespie passed away 10-12-09 in Bend, OR Jim was an IA projectionist and owned Projection Service Co. Most of his work in Santa Ana, CA. He died of a blood cancer which he had been fighting for the last few years. I will miss you my friend - R.I.P. Jim was not only a very close friend but a mentor to me. In the early 1970s I used to visit him when I was in southern California working. He was a master at rebuilding projection & sound equipment. Through Jim, I was introduced to many icons in the industry like Charlie Wolk, Howard Straight, Larry Little, Dick Koldoff, Tommy Oliphant and the list goes on...I miss you Jim! Jim was a very versitile person with many interests! He spoke fluent spanish and travelled to Mexico often on service work, he was a Minister, and was learning Law! I hope Lita, & your daughter and the boys ( Dogs ) are faring well. Rest in peace!  |  IP: Logged
