Last summer there was a thread wondering what kind of equipment was in the theater at the White House.
Last week C-Span put on a several-days tour of the White House, which included a short sequence showing this room. There was a shot into the booth from the auditorium, and another interviewing the projectionist. The angles showing the projector (one of two) were sort of odd, but it was pretty certain they have Simplex 35s.
They have digital sound heads on top, but not clear enough to get details. The projectionist made the point that they had two machines, and of course, perfection is imperative.
The theater itself appears to be very long and narrow, with a pretty small screen. The seats looked really comfortable.
I looked on C-Span's website, and they are selling the series on DVD, but don't seem to be holding it for free viewing.
