Kelmar reverse scan reader. Yesterday sound cut out but red light visibly on. Turned power off and on a few times and sound came back on. Today red light and sound stopped working in the middle of the show. There is a electronic burnt up smell coming from the back of the solar cell. Tried replacing power module control board (DCPM-1000) which is not part of the solar cell but did not fix the problem. What could be wrong?

It sounds like you have a defective solar cell ( 33014 ) or solar cell board (CAT655). The board has resistors and other components that could fail. Some of the power supplies have had some issues.
