Does anyone know if it's possible to convert a Christie Miniwind platter to a 70mm operation? It does have the removable center section. Can it be done?

Yes, but you had better make sure that unit is well timed, because most 70mm prints will go right to the edge of that and many longer ones over 2 hours probably just won't fit.
