ok so weve got side masking only in our screens. ive just done a screen check and discovered that when the curtains open for scope films, it sqeaks like hell. Theres no way i can get up to oil the pistons... plus i dont even know if thats the problem. masking cables are fine, and have been for years

any advice? im very new to this game... yet im in charge of projection here and a little confuddled about this one.

Definitely sounds like you need a good tall ladder, or rent an upright unit to spray graphite on those rollers up there across the top of the drapery runners.

Do they squeak on closing for flat (are your maskings the drop ones, or side pull ones..)?

good luck-Monte
