I recall seeing mention of a metal version of this part for the Kinoton projectors. Any comments on there introduction and use.

Steel runners are available and I LOVE them. However there has not been a steel skate or any plans to make one. They do have an orange skate made out of a tougher material, although I haven't found it to be any better or worse than the standard black delrin skates.

Go with the steel runners. There is less shedding and they will never wear out.
