I happened to find this when checking the AMPAS site. It looks like this guy captures artistic photos of old projection equipment, carbon arcs, etc.:

Since 2000, photographer Vince Gonzales has been capturing a unique side of the artifacts of motion picture technology: their beauty as objects. While most may see merely function – a microphone, a splicer, a projector – Gonzales uncovers dramatic shapes, distinctive textures and colors, hidden details of craftsmanship and design; in short, the remarkable aesthetics of these otherwise forgotten machines of the trade.

This exhibition, presented by the Academy’s Science and Technology Council, showcases more than 30 of Gonzales’s best photographs from his ongoing exploration of filmmaking technology as art.

“Tech Art: The Photography of Vince Gonzales” can be viewed whenever Academy public programs are hosted at the Dunn.

The Linwood Dunn Theater is located at the Academy’s Pickford Center for Motion Picture Study, 1313 North Vine Street, Hollywood, CA 90028. Parking is available behind the building through the entrance on Homewood Avenue (one block north of Fountain). For more information, please call the Academy at (310) 247-3600.

I was at the Pickford Center last Saturday, and had a chance to look a this exhibit. It's amazing what talent can do with the name plate of a Peerless Magnarc lamphouse.
