Author Topic: Xenon bulbs for Eiki 16mm EX-5500S Andy Uhrich Film Handler Posts: 3 From: Chicago, IL, USA Registered: May 2005 posted 03-14-2006 12:39 PM                     We have two 16mm Eiki EX-5500S and I am trying to track down a source for their xenon bulbs. Someone might have these bulbs on the shelf somewhere. I have an EX-2000N (350w xenon) and, last I checked, the bulbs were still available new through Eiki dealers. Is this no longer the case? I remember reading somewhere that Superior Quartz has a replacement for these bulbs that works with the newer machines (EX-3500 series) with the switching rectifiers, but isn't as good as the Ushios with the older-style rectifiers (which the 2000N uses).  |  IP: Logged Mike Croaro Master Film Handler Posts: 394 From: Millbrae, CA Registered: Apr 2005 posted 03-14-2006 05:10 PM                     Hi Andy: Try Superior Lamp. They have begun making replacement lamps for various Eiki Xenon machines. They will need a new Ushio lamp to model, however. I supplied the one for the 350w Eiki xenon, and the SQP lamp has worked flawlessly on my EX-3500S switcher machines, although there were early compatibility issues with machines such as the EX-1500's using the older reactance supplies. The only issue might be convincing Denny that there would be adequate demand for the lamp to justify his development work.  |  IP: Logged
