They don't claim that their speakers are intended for use in cinemas. The closest they get to that is a "boardroom" video presentation setup.

There is one place where I have heard soundsphere speakers out perform alternative methods...minor league baseball parks!

Hang about 6 of them on the support cables that hold the "screen" up (3 on each side) and you can fill a 10,000 seat stadium rather well with greater clarity than every other method I've personally experienced.

In cinema applications? I don't think the would do well for surrounds.

Some years back the company made a little push into theatres which is why I know about them. They made all sorts of claims as to coverage and relative cost as only two were required, in the back left and right areas of the auditorium.

They don't have any real bass response and the pattern is very odd.

Old news.

When I use to do Contract Sound, I installed many of these in Churches, High School Gyms, Skating Rinks, never use them outside or for a theatre...these speakers are design for a highly reverb room such as a gym...the speaker (8" Co-axle Round or a 12" or dual 12" with 4-8-tweeters)... The sound hits a dish mounted in front of it & flows the sound over a sphere shape onto the people below, it does this to prevent a sound bounce or slap in the room...so they are a special speaker for a for a highly reveb room...& it works very well for that type of room, if anyone ever installed a gym sound system, knows this too well....good speaker, not for theatre...
