I have two high frequency drivers (below)

288-16K Serial# 01881 (Broken Diaphragm)
288-16H Serial# 00916 (Broken Diaphragm)

additionally I have a Altec Lansing Diaphragm Voice Coil Replacement Assembly Part# 23834

Can I use the replacement coil on either of the drivers listed above?

If so, do I need a kit (spider shim) also?

Thanks in advance,

Eric Robinson

You should be good. The 23834 is the 16-Ohm replacement diaphragm for all 288C and later drivers (228B drivers need to be modified). Older drivers (that have screw terminals on the diaphragm itself) will need a kit to use the newer style push-on connector and shorter non-ferrous screws. One can solder the existing wires directly to the push-on tabs and cut down the existing screws to avoid buying the kit.
