Anyone have any suggestions on making these wind tighter on take up?

I think you meant to call it the Neurotic platter.... Its without doubt the next worse platter to a CFS Stupid Platter....

Yes ... replacing them with Specos. Other than that, I believe it's fairly hopeless.

For a tight wind replace the spring on the take up control arm. Order the spring for 70mm prints.

The spring is item 22 on drawing number 11-0106170, control box cover sub-assembly.

Will replacing that spring put us at any risk of film damage?

He really shuoln't be having that loose of a wind with the regular spring in there. None of the Neurotic platters we service have to have the 70mm spring for a normal tight wind. Perhaps his springs are getting lazy or the rubber roller needs replacing. But I agree SPECO's are a far better choice, AW-3's are even better.
