I have 2 Dolby cat.204 remotes that I bought to use with a CP-200 that I ended up selling. I may once again buy a CP-200 but I have given thought to a CP-500. Will the cat.204 remote work with the CP-500?

Nope, the Cat 204 is a CP200 only item. Sure I suppose you could try and reclaim it for the pushbuttons and volume knob (if you only had one station) but you don't need the Cat. 204 for that...you could just buy a "Bud Box" paint it, mount 8 switches and a volume control (100K) and accomplish that (again with just one station for the volume).
