When I ran an interlocked movie, the first projector had an auxilary motor that controlled the speed of the entire projector. Naturally, you can't slow it down to the point to that it's noticable, but it does slow down(this interlock was on 2 CenturyJJ projectors that were more than 20 yards apart). I don't know if all projectors come with an optional auxilary motor that you can plug into it, but these ones did.
