This might sound like a stupid idea, but is there any chance that the xenon bulb manufacturers will begin developing 6000 watt or 7000 watt GS/GTP bulbs that could output up to 10,000 watts of light? It seems that with exhibitors now using 60-80 foot wide screens, with low light, such an invention might be useful. They've recently developed the 2000-3000 GS/GTP bulbs.

Anyone want to explain why this might not be possible or why it could be a good improvement? I assume that the bulbs would not have a long life.

Thanks!

With the visible light, also comes the infrared... There's the problem.

The upper limit for 35mm film without damaging it is 7K. I would assume that '10K of light from a 7K bulb also includes all the IR that comes with the visible. No go.

The real solution to these giant screens is , of course 5/70 film! [Smile]

..another thing in our hearts is: with those big screens...using Strong Futura II's with 13.6mm rotator carbon arcs, or the Simplex 13.6mm condenser carbon arcs. What great light!
