Look at that eBay auction with a very strange piece of equipment.
How is this supposed to work - is this complete or just a part of the original device?

Picclear

I know that Bauer had an attachment called "Klarfilm-Einrichtung" ("Clear Film Device") in the 1950s, some kind of wet gate projection device to make base scratches on prints invisible. Never saw one, not even a picture of it.

That is just the feed hopper for the applicator pad unit. That unit drip feeds the pad applicator that the film passes through. Pic Clear was the best way to turn a dull day at the TV studios into a very cherful day because the stuff made you higher than a kite in no time flat [beer] . Its fumes were incredibly powerful [Eek!]
If you had a leak it was almost ideal to evacuate the entire film chain area of the station.

I'm really surprised someone actually bought that...especially since there is no applicator. Just goes to confirm that ya can sell anything on eBay.

From another FT thread:

Below are some pics of my 3rd TP-66, "parts machine", that has the "PICLEAR" horseshit. Note the damage to the paint from chemicals that dribbled out of the "applicator". Yeah! “Better living through chemistry”!
