Just wondering if anyone else is having problems with the DTS 6AD, we have installed hundreds of these units, it seems like all of a sudden a rash of problems is being reported, everyday I am getting a call about one or two of these units are out somewhere.... it is just beginning to be too many for one of our theatre chain to bear... DTS has a great tech support, one of the best in the industry, but their product is beginning to suck with all these problems with the motherboard or cards...on a new install recently I had (3) out the box that wouldn't work, & DTS didn't have any in stock to replace, lucky another install we were doing had a setback & we used those so we could open on time..has anyone else been having problems with the DTS 6AD ??....also what about the Dolby CP-650, any problems with these...the few that I have installed, I never get a call about a problem...have any of you ?? Thanks for your reply & help..

Don,

I can't comment on the DTS-6AD since we have so few in our service area...for those that are going the DTS route, we strongly recommend the Panastereo CSP1200/XD-10s combination. It is a great bang for the buck.

The CP650 remains our most reliable processor ever. I have had exactly one unit failure, and it was an early one.

Don,

There was a software update for those players earlier this year to aleviate various problems. Do you have it, and have you installed them? It is done via cd.

I think 6AD's should be outlawed.... A real P.O.C. that has no place but in the garbage can. Never sold one and never will but have to put up with several of them now and then in the field. I always save those stops for last [Mad] . It has to have the worst SR emulation on the planet.... The new Smart Mod 8 does a much better job in SR.

No big rash of problems with 6's or 6D's but we had one new XD-10 fail after a couple of days operation. Reports were that the unit sounded like it had a ton of wow and flutter. Its getting swapped out because DTS wants it back to see what its up to and why.

A minor understatement there Steve..... I think what you really meant was..... The best sounding cinema processor on the planet....
