We run Dolby DP55 processors and SRA5 processors. Today, in one auditorium, the only channels that had a signal were Left and Subwoofer. It doesn't just do this with the one feature (and its trailers), but also with a trailer pack I ran through to test it. I switched it from SR to "format 04 stereo" (or whatever 04 is) and all the channels worked then, but then it's not in SR. We use three QSC model ISA 450 amps, with one handling left/right, one handling center/sub, and one for the surrounds.

Any suggestions?

Dan

Open the SRA-5 card access (remove grey front panel held on by some splined screws). Swap the two SR cards between each other so left is right and right is left...then play the movie...if the problem moves...you need to RX your bad card...if the problem stays, you need to have the wiring to the SRA-5 checked and if necessary RX the SRA-5 card cage.

Okay, so I swapped the two 280T cards and the problem stayed the same - only Left and Sub worked. When I swing out the sound rack will there be anything noticeably wrong? Or should I just check any connection I see and hope for the best? Also, if Left is working, why doesn't Left Surround work? I'm just curious.

Update: A green wire leading from the SRA-5 into the CP55's 222 card seems to have come undone. It's electrical-taped back in place till I can convince my boss to get a soldering iron.

Thanks a lot Steve!

Your boss needs convincing to spend $10 to make a fix that will prevent you from losing a show? That's sad.

But thats life... Luckily Dan can fix anything with electrical tape/duct tape so at least the show can run and buy some time to convince the boss to fix something correctly!
