I have a platter that has got the weld broke where the hub shaft meets the actual deck. I'm sure it needs replaced. Just wondering what the price range on something like that would be?

Expensive! Figure $600.00 to $800.00 depending on how kind your local dealer is to you..... We have epoxied the hubs back into place temporarily till new decks can arrive and that will work quite well for a limited time.

Joshua:

You'll have to order that deck through Scott Hicks. Don't forget to add shipping charges. I think the decks are only shipped via truck line and are too large for UPS.

Ask for a "scratch 'n' dent" deck. Odds are the decks in your complex aren't perfectly shiny and scratch-free anyway. You can get one of those for a fraction of the cost of a new one, and they're just taking up space at Christie anyway.

FWIW: UPS has recently increased their maximum shipping size. The current maximum is 165 inches length and girth combined. (It was formerly 130 inches.) So it might be possible to ship a single platter disk if it was packed tight.

This may be too simple of a solution, but could it be welded back together?

My manager just said go ahead and replace it. Our platter systems are about 13 years old and have had numerous parts replaced over the last three years under are care. That is the reason why I got a brand new deck as opposed to the "scratch & dent" decks Brad was referring to. I would however like to repair the broke ones for emergencys? I dont have a welder though and I know solder wont work. Any ideas?

I've seen 8" square, 1" thick plates with a hole drilled in the center the same size as the hub bonded to the bottom of the deck with JB weld or another epoxy that has worked quite well.
