Just thought I'd post this in case anyone else here has not heard the news. Its certainly a dark day for Dolby and the wisp of whats left of its cinema department. Without his knowledge at hand I also wouldn't count on much meaningful technical, or decent customer service any longer. He was it!

When Lonnie returns from limbo he will be faced with a barrage of job offers all of which are well deserved. Some company will be extremely lucky to aquire his knowledge and dedication.

Hey Lonnie, Now there's time for some mountain biking around Moab. Give me a call!!!

Mark

(Thread topic edited so Lonny's name is spelled correctly [Smile] )

Great person in addition to being an excellent tech.....I wonder if his wife, Sabina, who also works for Dolby, is also affected? She was previously in cinema and switched to the recording studio division.....a husband and wife tech team, how rare is that?

Sorry to hear that. Lonnie is a excellent technician and really knows his trade. Dolby's loss will definately be another company's gain.

Best of luck, Lonnie. [Smile]

First off...it is Lonny (not Lonnie) and he left Dolby. Sabine is still with Dolby so I'd suspect Lonny will end up in the San Fran area when all is said and done.

As for Dolby, There is Norm and Ken...Ken, who also posts here, is quite accomplished himself as a tech.

Good luck to you Lonny!

Never was a call to Lonny ignored or brushed aside; never was a question to insignificant to for him explain an answer in detail. The man was what Tech Support Departments should be modeled after, not only an encyclopedic mind, but as personable as anyone could want. And agreed, Ken is also in that same league. Both have helped us on numerous occasions far beyond "the call of duty."

All the best to Lonny in whatever his next endeavor.

Frank

Nothing against Ken, far from it, but for the first time in years, stuff actually got MAILED to me from Dolby because of Lonny. I quite enjoyed chatting with him, and Sabine.

Sabine transferred to the Pro division some time back so is not directly affected by Lonny's departure.

Mark, Lonny is coming to take OUT all those AA-II's you've been putting in and ship them in a semi-trailer to Paul in SF! [Smile]

(Sort of an open private joke.)

Actually Lonny's preferred machine is the Century JJ under serial number 500 and with double shutters with steel blades!! Those are SMOOTH runners but nothing near to a DP-70 of course.....
