I need some suggestions on a supplier of GOOD heat shrink tubing. I've tried Radio Shack's and its awful. Same with the car parts stores. I remember having some that was grayish black that worked great but I don't remember where it came from.
Anyone got a recommendation?

You might check with Westlake Electronics, in Seattle.

Electronic Resourcing here in Olympia has an excellent selection of heat shrink tubing and in various colors, too. You should also check C&G Electronics in Tacoma (near where that giant warehouse burnt down a couple of weeks ago) and Radar Electric in Seattle.

For black and clear, I like the Alpha stuff too. It doesn't stink like some and it works really well.

OK... Dammit! I also Agree.. Alpha is THE best shrink tubing.

For mail-order, try Digi-Key electronic supply. They have tons of all sorts of electronic parts, supplies, and tools.

This must be the "gee, I'll increase my posting rate by saying Alpha brand heat shrink tubing is the best" thread. [Wink]

Seriously...I concur with everyone else who says Alpha is the best. However, 3M also makes a respectable line of heat shrink tubing; I've used the 3M stuff and found it works reasonably well. If you can't get Alpha, 3M is also worth looking in to.

It almost goes without saying, but a good heat gun also helps!

If you have a Brady ID Pro Labeler you could try their perma-sleeves for wire marking.

Everyone is agreeing just to increase their post rate. We must stop these unecessary comments that only reiterate what other people have said.

Beleive it or not, you can buy some at Lowe's Home Improvement
Stores, I get it there all the time, Look on the rack in the
electrical Dept. Home Depot has it also but it comes rolled up,
not very good I might add.
