Ok here goes.... I got a call Saturday night about the lamp not striking; I arrive and find the following.
 -
One of these had come lose from the circuit board and caused a short, which burnt away two parts of the tracing on the board. I had to remove all 4 to get to the one that was lose. I could not see any visible damage so I cleaned up all the old solder joints and remounted them.
 -
I bypassed the trace with new wiring and put everything back together. The lamp struck and there has not been any problems.
 -
But I do have a few questions….what the hell was I working on!
Do you call this the striker? or igniter coil?
I also need to find out where I can replace the circuit board or I guess the whole unit.
The lamphouse is a Cinemecannica X4000 with a vertical mounted bulb.
Don’t give me too much grief about not knowing the proper name…. I am still learning.

Also I had the theater owner looking over my shoulder the whole time.

(They only lost one show)

Looks like a Siemens ignitor from a Zies lamphouse
It looks like the break is between the high voltage transformer and the telsa coils
