I believe Karen will send you some free of charge if you send her your DTS unit serial number(s) and a shipping address.

Hi Franklin,

Please send me an email with your theater's shipping address. Please also tell me how many DTS players you have and I'll send you free trailers.

Karen, is there any way to get some of the old digital experience trailers? And what if I already sent in my serial #'s and asked for the digital experience trailers and ended up getting the sonic landscape instead. Thanks, Chris

The Digital Experience trailers are discontinued, I believe.

Karen -- any word on DTS making another new trailer soon? I still use the Digital Experience one occasionally on action or otherwise "loud" movies.

I was under the impression the Digital Experience flying disc trailer was once again available. The all-DTS Carmike 8 in my town got a batch of them not long ago.

Sadly, all of the theatres I frequent (Consolidated) in Hawaii do not show digital sound trailers anymore. The Waikiki Twins and the #3 used to show them until they closed. Signature Theatres in Hawaii still play them along with a variety of SRD trailers at all of their theatres and THX at the Dole Cannery 18. The DTS trailers are included on DVD's from Universal, Dreamworks and Artisen and that is great but the one that is now used more often is the less popular "SONIC LANDSCAPE"

We presently have two trailers available: the "flying disc" and the "piano". There is a new trailer coming and we should see it soon. I don't have an ETA at this moment.

If anyone wants any of the available trailers, please send me an email with your theater's shipping address and tell me how many units you have. You can specify the piano or flying disc, or even get both!

Brad - marketing is keeping the trailer under wraps and won't tell even me! I am hoping for something more like the flying diss = but that's just my opinion.

Yay! Now will this be a knock-your-socks-off logo like the original (as in you can't find it anymore) Dolby Train or Dolby City, or will it be extra-tame like the piano?

Brad:

Dolby just sent me some "Train" trailers. Are you sure they are discontinued?

...or are you referring to the original speaker-busting audio mix?

I'm talking about the original "blow people's heads off" Train, not any of the remixes.

As I've said before, I like the original Dolby Digital "Train" trailer mix because it scared the crap out of little kids and made them cry at the front of "The Lion King" [thumbsup]

Crying doesn't stand up to decapitation! [evil]

Anyone know who mixed that original version? I'm betting it was Gary Rydstrom.

Hello all. Just curious, when this new DTS trailer is unveiled, how do we get it? Is DTS going to ship it with a couple movies or do we have to order it? I think shipping it with a film would be cool because it seems that at our theatre, no one ever gets new sound snipes. All we have are Dolby City and Digital Experience trailers. I'm trying to get everyone to use them more, but it takes time. Maybe with a new trailer, it will get people to say, "Woa, that's cool. We need to play these more often." Cheers!

When DTS was first introduced back in 1993, Universal Pictures releases had the original version of the DTS trailer attached. The original version ended when the Digital Experience logo exploded on the screen.

The practice of attaching the trailers made things convenient for DTS-equipped theaters. However, in many cases non-DTS equipped theaters also ran the logo. I even saw it played in second run at dollar houses. In the late Spring of 1994 when the second flying disc trailer was introduced with the DTS logo added to the end of it Universal stopped attaching DTS snipes to their film prints. I think "The Paper" was the last one that did that (that's just off the top of my head without consulting some kind of list).

I'm not sure what kind of problems could be solved or not by including DTS snipes (or other sound format snipes) in the reel cans. Projectionists would get fresh snipes every time, which would be nice. But it would also be an invitation for some dishonest operator of a mono house to misuse them in an attempt to hoodwink customers.
