Hello All,

Just wanted to let everyone know that my print of Wild Thornberrys is missing all soundtracks on reel #4. Not quite sure if any other theaters out there have similar problems, but just wanted to get the word out in case your print has not been screened.

I am hoping that Paramount lives up to their word, and the replacement reel arrives first thing Friday morning.

Jim

That's a new one on me. Hope ours is all right.

BTW, Paramount is usually very good in getting replacements out fast. I've never had a problem with them. Once we had a defective print arrive 6 am Friday morning. No one knew until 10 am when someone came to build it. Paramount had the replacement reel in by 3pm.

I played a print of Rock & Rule that had one reel with the image flipped left/right, the soundtrack was normal. Lettering was backwards and there was usually a black bar on the right side of the screen. Sometimes the animation continued into the "black bar" area.

That's a big "Oops" for the lab that made that print. [Frown] It's likely the picture negative was "flipped" when threading the printer, giving a "mirror image" of the picture. The sound negative was printed correctly. Since the picture would have been printed through the base of the negative, there would also be some sharpness loss because of the diffusion of the image having to go through the negative base.

I suspect a print missing ALL the soundtracks somehow had the sound negative break during printing, or the printer was misthreaded. A print missing ONE of the soundtracks likely had one of the soundhead lamps go out, or was not contracted for that sound system.

Our soundtrack was fine on R4 of WT, but there was an odd problem that I havent seen before, but had heard of. There was about 1 foot of film after a lab splice that the sprocket holes were not punched right and caused the image to jump around on the sceen. Anyone else have that problem with this movie?

The last ten minutes of reel 1 the picture is going in and out of blue. Right before the reel change it gets really dark blue and loses sound for aboue 5 seconds.... really wacky

Sounds like another case of safelight fogging. Request a replacement reel.

Since the very ends of the roll can get crimped or damaged, the labs usually discard a few feet at the beginning and end of each roll of raw stock, which Kodak doesn't charge for as a "finishing allowance". Another possibility is that the perforations were damaged during splicing.
