Hi again,
One issue that's been troubling my mind for so long. In one cinema here we have a CP65 connected with a DTS6D system. Now when the DTS runs, on the inside of the CP 65 on the SR plates the red and green lights go on and off (not the dolby level). Why is that?

You have Cat. 300s or Cat. 350s? They would be the auto-compare LEDs...they are reading the analog track. They are for the recording end of things..."pay no attention to the LEDs behind the curtain"

I'm confused. The DTS/Dolby CP-65 setups I am used to seeing typically have the Dolby Digital light pop on the CP-65 when DTS is playing.

The Dolby Digital button simply selects a 6-track input on the back to which anything can be connected, in this case the audio output of the DTS player. The DTS would also be wired to the format automation connections of the CP65 so that when there is valid DTS playback it pulses the CP to accept the digital audio source and pulses it back to SR analog format if DTS drops out.

The regular automation is generally set up to go from Non Sync (music) to SR and the DTS just takes care of itself in order to avoid it switching to that input when there is nothing there. This sometimes gives rise to situations you've heard people talking about where the DTS has already kicked in and pulsed the CP before the automation cue and the latter causes the CP to go back to SR. Or the end of show cue takes the CP back to SR while DTS is still playing. Then when the DTS playback finally does end, it pulses the CP back to SR and one hears the leader trail out. It's just a matter of proper placement of the cues.
