Hi all again,
What a pleasant job we all do. ALL PROBLEMS!!!!! Anyway. In a two screen cinema here in my country the motor of a V 5 seems to have blown for some unstrage reason. I did all the checks and found out that all the currents going in and out are ok. I even checked the possibility of melted wires but I found none. The strange think is that two weeks ago I was asked by that cinema to go and replace a broken stereo solar cell and I even started the machine ran perfectly with no flaws. Since they are reinovating the cinema, two days ago I had been asked to go and do some checks on the projectors and the projectionist mentioned that everytime he started the motor, the motor fuses were blown and a bad smell was coming out from the motor. After several fuse blows!!! I took the motor out to take it to someone who checks motors. Could it be something else? Please advice.

Does your V5 uses inverter or not?

If not, I had a bad experience witha fuse because if during a show ONLY ONE fuse blow, the motor will continues running but it will blow in a while. Fuses are a very bad component to protect a three phase motor.

Bye
Antonio

A 3 phase motor will continue to run if a phase is lost but will not start if one is missig unless one spins it. It will get very hot and eventually burn out
Any good motor shop will be able to rewind them and have one check the mains to the booth for a missing phase
