I never seem to get that thing set up "just right". Seems as though the runner shoe either hangs up on the flange or it schreads the film a little.

Looking through the SA manual, it cites a special gauge that should be used. The "JJ" manual has a little different procedure, and I might try that. Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Paul

I used a short piece of flim on the sprocket to align ours. It seemed to work pretty well.

You can buy a guage from Strong, but it's not cheap. The trouble with using a steel straight edge or similar is that you really need to be referencing off the intermittent sprocket, which isn't easy using that method.

Personallu I use a guage which I think we got from La Vezzi. It's way cheaper than the Strong item, is smaller and works just fine. You can use it other mechs too, as it's made the correct width for 35mm film, and each end is for either VKF or CS spcrockets.

Paul,
The Century gauge is the easiest way to do it but film will also work. Sometimes two film strips held on the intermittent sprocket with the shoes closed will do. LaVezzi sells a AG1 gauge that you line up on the intermittent sprocket and the guide rollers. They list it for only VKF and VKFII sprockets. Mine has C/S and VKF on it. It's not to costly. They also have a AFG1 stainless steel film strip which also work nicely for film trap line up. I can show you some of these if you make it to Portland sometime.

You can also buy steel film from Lavezzi, I have used it many times, it works well.

If you can't get "steel film", the perforated stiff 7-mil Blue transparent polyester processing machine leader can be used as a "straight edge":
