I was talking to someone who had problems running the software on a new laptop(not sure if it was ME or NT or whatever) but it would run fine on an older one with Windows 98. Does anyone know the compatability of this program with versions of Windows? If this has been discussed before feel free to point me there...thanks!

Well, I do know that windows XP offers the ability to select a compatability mode. In the properties section of the program there is a section that will allow you to change and run the program as if it was using a different OS program like 98 or 2000. I am not sure if this capability exists in the ME or NT programs since I have not worked with those systems. Hope this helps.

There are two DRAS versions now...there is good old DOS DRAS...aka DRAS10.EXE

And then there is WINDRAS that is windoze specific. WINDRAS will bog down lesser puters but offers nifty recording options if you want to demonstrate a problem.

Make sure you get the latest version of WINDRAS, as the earlier one does wierd things with some films.

DRAS10 will definetely not run under a newer OS such as Windows XP. The program accesses the hardware (such as the serial port) directly and XP does not allow that. I don`t think it will in compatibility mode either. The SDDS setup software has the same problem.
WinDRAS on the other hand runs very well under XP on my notebook. I wonder why it`s not available for download from film-tech, when practically all the other Dolby stuff is.

A new update to the manual page is coming in the near future. That will be on it.

It would also be great if there could be more of the older Dolby field bulletins, if you can somehow still get hold of them.
