Hi everyone...i'm trying to fill some holes in my knowledge and would love it if someone could point me in the right direction (links?)of detailed information regarding projection lenses (flat and anamorphic)their hows ,whys and history, i'm looking for basic through to detailed info ?, i'm thirsty!.
I've been looking around on the net and so far i've only found lenses to buy, am i just looking in the wrong places? .

While not an in depth source, the old SMPTE/NATO Projection and Theatrical Presentation Manual had a bit about lenses and some cutaway views of then-common lenses. Also a good explanation about lenses in general starting with a pinhole. More understandable than the typical ray diagram with the candle found in many books.

This is from the Technical Library within the Optics section of the Edmund Optics site (the old Edmund Scientific catalog people). Probably more here than you want to know about optics!
