One of our Christie Endless Loop Feeders has been causing me quite a bit of trouble. The holdback roller on the rewrap arm appears to be stripping the sdds track off of every single print loaded onto it. I suspect this roller because there is always a pile of blue dust on and below it.
The dust has infiltrated the penthouse Dolby Cat 701 reader as well and is causing a continuous fail reading for SRD. SR works fine.

What can be done to fix this shedding and what should I do to get the penthouse reader working again?

I'm sure there will be more movies loaded onto the ELF, as this is the favorite house for scheduling double bookings. Converting the ELF to an AW3 isn't in the near future either.

Be sure the suspect roller is turning freely, to minimize any scuffing of the print edges. Proper lubrication of the print per SMPTE Recommended Practice RP151 will reduce abrasion and dusting. Does anyone have experience using FilmGuard treated prints on the ELF or similar continuous loop platter systems?

We will soon. We are getting a bottle of it as a test sometime in the next week or so.

General note to endless loop platter booths, it has been recommended by a couple of people who have used FG with endless loop platters before that the pads be soaked the day before they are ran on a print, then ran only once and removed for the remainder of the week. These machines are odd by design, so please start off applying much less than you would normally think so and increase only when you feel comfortable.

I had never had the chance to write up manufacturer recommendations on a loop platter, as I've never had the chance to work with one and experiment for the best end result.

Thankfully that won't be a problem much longer. We've budgeted cap ex to have them either converted to regular Christie platters or removed outright and replaced by Strong platters (my preference) this year.

I can not express how much I dislike endless loop platters.

And what should I/ can I adjust if the roller is not moving freely? I have changed out the roller once already and it continued to shed.
