I recently acquired a xenon lamphouse for the projector I am rebuilding for use in my home screening room. Since I now have a xenon lamp at home, I want to buy a face shield, gloves, and chest/arm protection. I've not had any luck finding this stuff through the on-line catelogs of the several cinema supply companies I've checked. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Well, you could probably find the face shields at a hardware store. The gloves and arm and chest protection at a welding supply store.

Any Cinema dealer can order the face mask, gloves and apron from Christie Inc.

Look in the Yellow pages under "Safety Equipment & Clothing" and "Fire Extinguishers".

I don't have the catalog handy, but Grainger carries a wide range of safety equipment and should be able to supply what you need.

Scott and I were thinking the same thing.

Personal Protection Equipment at Grainger.com

As for gloves, I just wear jersey-fabric garden gloves. They keep the inadvertent handprint off of the quartz, but are probably worthless in a bulb explosion. I also prefer a leather jacket with sleeves as opposed to an apron.

For gloves, we just use a pair of welding gloves that you can get off the shelf at someplace like Menards or Home Depot.
