Okay, having finally been promoted to projectionist at my new workplace, Marcus' Rosemount Theater, I've found my first conflict: When the auditoriums were converted to stadium seating, the projectors had to be raised to clear customers' heads, as a result, there is no room to mount a Kelmar film cleaner above the penthouse. And because Rosemount is one of the last theaters in existence using Christie's ELF platter tree, there is no (apparent) mounting space on the platter tree.

Having introduced the bright idea of film cleaning to my previous "home", the Lakeville 18, I really want to free Rosemount of scratches, but this mounting problem is holding me back.

We are getting rid of the ELF platters, but not in the near future. (At least 5 of 8 projectors are running platter to platter right now) Sad to say we are keeping the Christie projectors too, but we can survive that
So, does anybody know if I'm mounting in the wrong places, or is there a way to make a new mount anywhere?

Go to a hardware store and buy a pack of "thread-serts". All you will need is a power drill to drill the two mounting holes in the side of the tree, and then the thread-sert kit inserts a threaded hole into your freshly drilled hole, which you can then mount your film cleaner bracket to. It'll set you back under $5 and this can be done to almost any platter system. Just make sure to drill the mounting holes in the same place (waist level) as the Christie and to follow the Kelmar AW3 mounting bracket's spec. Big Sky put their film cleaner mount at the top of the tree and everyone I have spoken to has a deep hatred for that placement (myself included).

That will be on my shopping list for tomorrow.
Thanks Brad
Is the AW3 mounting spec in the platter manual?
