Does anyone know if you can replace an eprad soundhead on an eprad sword with any other brand of soundhead without much trouble, mounting bracket, ect? I doubt there is a retrofit for the eprad sound head to go to reverse scan. Thanks in advance.

Yes. In the old Circus Drive in, we had one of those critters. We had a RCA-1040 bolted to it, which is the same common bolt pattern Simplex, Ballentyne, or Century uses.

Good decision for getting rid of the Eprad sound head.

Another "whiffletree" bites the dust
The eprad soundhead was rather unique with what is in effect a PTR for the scanning drum and adifferent style of tensioning device. Often felt that whiffletree tensioner would solve a lot of the christie soundhead woes (or wows)

I have two Eprad Swords. I have SH-1000 soundheads and Simplex E-7 projector heads. They were put on there in the 70's, well before I bought the theatre, so I don't know if there was any special bracket used or not.
It works fine, though.

You should be able to put just about any soundhead on the Sword pedestal as it has standard mounting bolt spacing. However the RCA 9030 and 9050 wouldn't work (spacing is wider) unless you had some sort of adapter plate.
