Why bother with weird names for shipping new release prints? Any serious pirates must have a reliable way to get prints, get at prints, or access review tapes - so the shipping obfuscation would be no hindrance to them.
Crazed fans or impulse thieves might grab "Spiderman" yet ignore "Iguana" if they spotted the cans at a bus station or somewhere, but except for the very first week's shipment anyone actually wanting a print would know the "cover" name... and anyone who really needs to steal a print the first week could find it out. The names are hardly a state secret.
So.. other than for the pleasure of confusing the distribution process, what's the point?
How many film prints are actually stolen or reported lost/missing, anyway??

I think Box Lunch, She Stood Alone, Stranded, Weaver, Dog Bone, Mary's Story, Bones, and Papa Bear are among the greatest movies ever released!

Yes, but "Perfect Timing" was a disappointment

I've never seen the point of this shipping names malarkey either, like the man said, the serious pirates obviously have source of prints or good DVD/video masters, if the quality of the pirate stuff I've seen round 'ere is anything to go by.

The most ironic thing about "shipping names" is that while the bar-coded label from ETS has the code name ... the other side (slapped on by the local depot) - in Atlanta, at least ... doesn't bother ... so LOTR says "Changing Seasons" on one side, and "Lord Of The Rings" on the other side of the same can!

Do the ETS labels specify the real names on the openning week?

If not, perhaps it's to prevent theft at the lab level.

The Fox titles always had the fake name on one side and the real name on the other, but I just called the movies by their fake names just for fun.
