We ordered replacement reels of Ice Age, I think reels 2 & 3 because of shredding. We ran it through film-guard twice, and the head still gets shredded dust. If you look on top of the print, you can see the shredding. Anyone else have this problem?

What you describe sounds like poor slitting and not "shedding" in the typical sense. Perhaps you can send a couple of feet of the leader to John Pytlak for examination.

Yes, I would appreciate samples of leader from the affected reels, and a photo of the damage to the "top of the print" if possible. Likewise, any sample of the "dust" itself would be helpful, along with the full magenta-colored edgeprint ID.

I assume you checked to be sure the gate and film path were clean (no burrs, rough spots, or buildup of dirt prior to the show), and that you are running with the lowest tension needed to keep a steady, sharp image? Any chance the dusting is happening on the ads and trailers, contaminating the projector head before the feature runs?

Nope, all pressure bands are fine and we cleaned the heads pretty well. I will try to remember to cut some out for you. Like I said, we cleaned the print with cleaner twice, so all the dirt from the ads and stuff would have come off onto the pads. This "poor slitting" is just happening on the 2nd and 3rd reels.
