Ok, let's suppose that you have oil on the lens of the digital reader causing frequenty "fault" on the read.
A tech told me that I don't have to touch the DD readers lens because I can left an halo. Is it true?

However, do you agree with me that it is better an halo rather than a layer of oil???

Bye
Antonio

Sound optics need to be kept clean and oil-free. You wouldn't hesitate to properly clean a projector lens or port glass that had oil droplets or a big fingerprint on it, would you? Perhaps your service technician is concerned that you would clean it improperly, or change the alignment, and so tells everyone "hands off".

How did oil get on the optics?

Richard,

First, he is NOT my the tech servicing my theater!!!

John,

I agree with you. Probably the tech said that because he didn't know how the projectionist will clean digital lenses.

Oil: the projector is leaking oil from maltese sprocket and no maineinance has been made since too many months...

So the oil has reached the soundheads...

It was not my theater by I cannot resist and I cleaned them
