I just had an idea involving ten Simplex projector commandments.
You post the rest. Number 10 is
Thou shalt not drop the intermittent assembly when
removing or installing it.

Number 10 refers to what also happens to a starwheel or cam of an intermittent if you drop it you just might as well forget about using it again unless otherwise. Thou shalt drain the oil when moving,transporting or storing the projector or when closing the drive-in for a while.

6: Thou shalt not remove the spring on thee upper pad roller assembly, or though whilst spend hours trying to get it back on! (slight exageration, but I think you know my point. )

Ken, they can be a bitch. Did you recall seeing that little hole in the thing the spring wraps around? Well, a paper clip works nicely in that little hole to keep the spring and its retainer compressed so it won't bounce across the booth a jillion times...

5 - Thou Shalt not take thy name "Simplex" in vain when all goes wrong and then wish it were a "Century".

Thanks Ken for welcoming me to Film-Tech. Hopefully I'll make a worthwhile contribution from time to time.

Cheers;

ROFLOL!

Paul, I know you can use a paper clip. Someone on this site told me about that. (Sorry, I can't remember who you are.) But that was long after I had my own unfortunate misshap! Now I'd rather not mess with it at all, paper clip or no.

Ken,
If you think the upper pad roller spring is bad you should try a shutter compensator. Actually after yyou mess with either one for a while you'll find the easy way!

Ken, I too have had the misfortune that befell you but I swear that pales in comparison to the torture I recently endured trying to put a footage counter back together. Sounds simple? Ha! Inside those numbered wheels are small brass whatchyamhoozies that are pure, undeniable evil.
