Author Topic: Older Simplex gear question Jon Bartow Master Film Handler Posts: 287 From: Massachusetts Registered: Nov 1999 posted 01-28-2002 08:39 PM                     One of my theaters has a Simplex PR1014 projector with a SH1012-T2 soundhead. The drive gear assembly has self-destructed (i.e. gear, bearings, shaft, bracket). The only manuals and parts lists that I have list two different "drive kits" one for RCA soundheads and one for Simplex SH1000, SH1020, and SH1050 (part #'s G-2086 and G-2068 in case anyone cares) It appears to be the correct gear/bracket, but I'm not sure. Is the Simplex "drive kit (G-2086)" the correct one for the SH1012-T2? Or is there a different gear for the SH1012-T2? Its best to get it form Strong as they seem to run quieter. I don't believe the RCA gear will even fit in there. For reliablilitys sake, be sure to replace the bearings and shaft while you're at it.
