In a 35mm film, What's the distance between each four perforation? I'm working as a projectionist for almost 1 year and I've been thinking it's about 18mm or 19mm. (Is hard to measure it!)

For 35mm print film, the "pitch" or distance between each perforation is nominally 0.1870 inches. So the pulldown for each 4-perf frame is 0.7480 inches (19.00 millimetres).

Standard SMPTE 195 specifies the projectable area for 1.85:1 "flat" as 0.825 x 0.446 inches. For 2.39:1 "scope", the projectable area is 0.825 x 0.690 inches.

You can obtain copies of the SMPTE standards from the SMPTE at:

Thanks John, I was talking to my workmate about the speed of the film from platter to projector. Now I know the speed of film is 1,641.6 meters per hour (Maybe a new variable in our film lexic: Flm=1,641.6 m/h)
