I posted a question some time back about a problem with the autostrike on our Xetron XH-2000 lamphouse. I have changed the circuit breaker and the autostrike relay and it still wont strike. The bulb is a 2000 Watt Osram with about 200 hours on it now. It was just changed not long ago but was not the problem. It needed to be changed anyway. Thanks for all your help.

John

I forgot to add that the lamphouse builds good no-load voltage. Almost to the end of the volt meter to 150v.

Some lamps have a potentiometer in the autostrike circuit to control the voltage going to the relay. It's usually right next to it. You could try adjusting it. Just be careful that if it does strike, the ignitor stops igniting once the bulb is lit. If it doesn't turn the pot back a bit until it does. This is assuming that the ignitor works properly with the emergency strike button.

John, when you say will not strike, do you mean in auto and manual or just in autostrike, if only in autostrike, that changes things to diagnose...

Sorry Don. The bulb ignites as soon as the manual strike button is pushed.

Rick's suggestion about the potentiometer is a good possiblity.

After you replace the autostrike circuit breaker and relay, there's not much left in the circuit! (Considering it lights with the manual button.) Check for loose wires, or poorly crimped lugs where the wire looks like it's in, but is loose.
