Author Topic: Calculating power needs Antonio Marcheselli Phenomenal Film Handler Posts: 1260 From: Florence, Italy Registered: Mar 2000 posted 01-03-2002 02:05 PM                        Hi everyone, I was calculating some power needs for a theater: does the surround power should be calculate using the centerline of the width of the theater or should I use 2/3 of the width? Watts = (100-S+20log r ) (--------------) ( 10 ) 10 S = Speaker sensitivity (dB SPL at 1 meter for 1 watt) r = Side wall to centre line in metres.
