I recently cam into a Kodak Pageant 16mm AV126TR in beautiful condition. It uses a Sylvania DFD 1000watt bulb. Does anyone have any tech info about these machines, as well as parts sources? Does anyone know what the rated life of this bulb is? What other bulb options I will have? Any tech info and opinions will be greatly appreciated,

Thanks!

Cut the back out of the bulb housing, pull the guts out of there and align up an external lamphouse.

See "16mm on a platter" in the warehouse. The Pageants are pretty good machines. Just remember they can't take more than a 1000 watt external xenon without requiring additional forced air cooling.

I have an old pageant that I bought from the University here that was retrofitted to take standard slide projector lamps. Can't tell you how to do it, but it can be done.

If you need the manual, it can be puirchased on a CD Rom with many manuals from here:

The Pagents were a great machine I have several that we converted to 1K christie verticle xenons. These were the older pagents that had the takeup on the front sort of like the RCA machines

I was AV repair director for a large midwestern school district that had close to 400 Pagents. They were really great projectors, easy to overhaul and repair in general. Parts were also reasonably priced from Kodak back then. There were a few Hell and Bowels and Kalart Victors thrown in for some reason. Those were always a pain to repair. This school district also had its own film library with over 2000 titles as well. The RTI film inspection machine was always a fun trip when it broke down.

Will,

You may want to visit 16mmfilms.com and post your inquiry there, as there are quite a few Pageant lovers there who probably are walking repair manuals for those fine projectors.

The DFD lamps have a rated life of 10 hours. The Pageant can also take a DDB lamp (750 W, rated at 25 hours life), as well as a DHT (1200 watts, 10 hours). These lamps should still be relatively easy to come by, as they were also used for many decades in the somewhat popular Kalart-Victor 16mm projector line (up to the 75 series), as well as others.

You might also want to try a DDY. It's a direct substitute for the DDB, also 750w, but was actually designed for bowling score projectors and has a 200 hour rated life. I forget the actual lumen rating, but it is a bit lower than the DDB's as is the color temperature, but for small venues generally isn't a problem. I've used them in RCA's over the years and they NEVER wear out. I've got lots of them, along with DDB's and the 1000w. Email me off line if you want some.
