Have any of you purchased (or helped in the creation of) the Projection Training Guide/Handbook that I saw advertised in this month's In Focus magazine? I am looking for some good buzz to get my theatres to buy themselves copies.

If you are referring to the new SMPTE Projection Manual, a few Film-Tech regulars did write sections of the book. Much of the manual comes from the excellent BKSTS & CEA Projectionist's Manual, which has a "workbook" approach.

SMPTE is pleased to announce a new Projection Manual, a collaboration with ITEA and BKSTS. The manual, comprised of two main sections, includes a BKSTS projectionist manual, featuring a comprehensive tutorial guide that provides a step-by-step training program for the new projectionist. The second half consists of a series of articles authored by U.S. experts in cinema technology. These articles, carefully selected, reinforce aspects of the first section, while providing additional information on U.S. Projection practices. The manual serves as an excellent resource for newcomers to the projection room. .
