Everything working good here Rich. Do they still have you in a grinch suit? ha ha. Sorry.

Hey! Did anyone see that comercial with the grinch running a projector and it is out of frame, then he puts his hand infront of the lense? Anyone?

We have both our prints interlocked and have not had a breakdown or scratch yet.

After only one week of playing, I would certainly HOPE that ALL prints of the Grinch are scratch-free.

My prints do not have any physical damage, but are loaded with negative dirt. The color is washed out and the registration will give you a headache. Just absolutely TERRIBLE lab work! I wish Ron Howard was able to see the quality (on at least some) of the prints. I saw no reason to order replacements, figuring they would all be from that overly worn out and abused inter-negative, but am wondering now if there ARE good prints out there.

Universal sometimes prints at Deluxe Hollywood and Deluxe Toronto. Mine are of course, Deluxe Hollywood. Anyone get one from Toronto?

Over the summer, we had a print of 'Nutty II' that came from Deluxe Hollywood. R1 was bad and the replacement was shipped from Deluxe Toronto. Go figure. Of course R1 looked better than the rest of the movie...

I find the focus on "The Grinch" soft. Has anyone else found that?

It seems as if the trailer was a lot better than the feature. The colors on the trailer were great were as to the movie was extremely poor. The sound just plain sucked.
Too, bad the trailer showed it off more than the movie.

We got a couple of replacement reels (bad focus) from Toronto and they both look better than the other reels. Focus also seems soft here also.

Funny you should mention it...

I just got back from handling two calls. I got the call from one place, Thursday night, when the plenum-cooling fan died in a Christie console. Just as I got back to the motel and was settling in for the night another call came in. They had a power supply go catty-wompass on them. Luckily, I was pretty near them because of the call from the first place.

I DREAD the day when I get an emergency call from Bristol, VA and Summerville, SC at the same time!

I noticed a lot of inconsistency in the color. Like the Grinch's suit will be bright red in a scene, then the camera cuts to a close-up and all of a sudden it looks dirty red/faded.

I sure wish this picture would've been in scope. The scope teaser looked just great.

Opening weekend, I was told that Ron Howard was auditorium hopping at my theater and was heard being "very satisfied" with the presentation and with audience response. I wish he would of taken the booth tour so I could show him what was REALLY going on!

GRINCH is still good at my place. Some of the colour is a little soft. It looks a bit like soft focus but bounces from scene to scene so it sure isn't intentional. Registration isn't too bad in my print ( which I run interlocked on weekend mats). I'm running Cinemeccanica machines so you know that the image shakes a bit anyway.

We projectionists get the blame for a lot of the poor presentations but , you know, it's nice to know that this one is not our fault.

Haven't had the feature yet (two weeks to go before we open) but the trailer is so vertically unstable it's an embarrasment. The closing advert is rock steady, then the opening titles of the Grinch trailer wobble up and down like a dying fish (so it can't be anything to do with the projector). A previous user had cut the heads and tails off the trailer, so I've no clue what lab it came from. Hope the feature's a lot better, though...

The trailers were printed at Deluxe Hollywood as well.

Tal, I'm quite surprised Ron Howard was impressed with the presentation (mainly referring to the lab printing). Did you by chance get an EK print?
