I posted some of what appears below over on the bigscreenbiz forum in response to a comment someone made about Kodak's recent ad promoting the virtues and value of film vs. digital to filmmakers. I thought it might get seen more over here, so here it is:

Kodak has the right idea promoting film as a medium vs. digital to the filmmakers. I wonder if we'll see a Kodak campaign aimed at consumers (ie. moviegoers) about the advantages of film projection over digital projection. Digital sound and THX branding seems to have worked on consumers. Maybe Kodak should do a "The Audience is Seeing" campaign or "Let's See It On Film" or "Kodak Films - Making Movies Look Better" Or "See the Story in it's true colors"

Kodak does have its "Million Hours" trailer for the Screencheck-approved theatres. I have never actually seen this, but we do have a box of them in the booth...

Kodak's publication "Cinema Notes" featured articles on "The Future of Cinema":

Kodak's business is PICTURES, whether they be traditional film or digital or a "hybrid" of both. For example, Kodak technology was used to digitize many of the films being presented in the Digital Cinema demonstrations, and is widely used for CGI special effects. Today, FILM is still the best and most cost effective way of presenting movies on theatre screens. That may change, and Kodak technology continues to help lead that change when it truly can benefit the movie industry.
